I'm trying to find the words for a song a heard many years ago. The chorus came back to me afew days ago
The Young Folks keep Movin Away
Who Can Get Them To Stay
There's Money and Jobs
In The Wool Towns Of The Valleys
This is The Land Of The Old And Grey.

Can any body come up with the rest or at least tell me who wrote it and where it can be found
Ta
Nick

LAND OF THE OLD AND GREY

(Em) I am a (D) man of this (Em) land
Thirty (D) long years or (Em) more
I have worked the (D) Mallerstang fells
(Em) Never (D) asked for (Em) more

chorus
(G) Young folks keep (C) mo-ving a- (D) way
(G) Who can (C) get them to (D) stay
There's (Em) money and there's jobs in the (D) wool towns of the valleys
(Em) This is the (D) land of the old and (Em) grey

I have been a leadminer
Over the Swaledale way
The clothes on our back, they never get dry
Freezing on a winter's day

I have seen the colours of this land
Thirty long years or more
Many men drifting to the mines of Durham
To the Bradford factory floor

Working on the Carlisle railway
Mending broken track
There's snow on the fells and it's raining in the valleys
Muscles aching in my back

"land of the old and grey"...a perfect description of England at this bloody awful time of year. Will the clouds ever lift, will we ever see sunshine again, can I last the distance till the first daffodil?
