From: griff@pacific.net Hi all, I am looking for a Walter Brennan tune that says something along the lines of "Life Gets Tedious... Hound Dogs a Howlin', sittin' on a thorn, just too lazy to move." My stepfather has talked about it for YEARS and I thought it would make a good present. Thanks... Robert Griffith |

From: dick greenhaus Robert Griffith- The DT is the Digital Tradition, a database which is the world's biggest (and best, we think) songbook. You can access any of the 7100-plus songs by going to the blus box at the upper right side of this page, and entering a title, word or phrase from the song you're looking for. Try it. You'll like it. |

From: GUEST,Dafydd The song is called Life Gets Teejus Don't It and it was written by Carson Robison in 1948, and recorded by him as well as Peter Lind Hayes, Walter Brennan and possibly Luke the Drifter , which was a name that Hank Williams SENIOR used for a while. I just learned most of this while trying to identify the song from my childhood memories and find a recording to buy. The Hayes & Robison versions are on You-Tube. |

Here's the longest one: Lyr Req: Life Gets Teejus, Don't It?. Those 7 are all linked to each other (See the list at the top of that page.), and to the lyrics in the Digital Tradition Database. You just happened to find one (the only one, I hope) that wasn't linked to all the others. |

From: PHJim A few more verses: My shoe's untied, but, shucks, I don't care Cuz I recon I ain't a-goin' nowhere, I'd brush my teeth and comb my hair Just too much wasted effort. The water in the well get lower and lower, Ain't had a bath in a month or more I've heard it said and I'm sure it's true That too much bathing will weaken you. Danged ol' mule, he must be sick. I jabbed him in the rump with a pin on a stick He hunched his back, but he wouldn't kick Something cock-eyed somewhere. Well, the cow's gone dry and the hens won't lay And my well dried up last Saturday My troubles keep pilin' up day by day And now I'm gettin' dandruff. |
