19 Dec 02 - 02:06 AM (#850117) Subject: Happy home in Newport by the sea From: CRANKYYANKEE Inspired by Mac Wiseman's Little mountain home in Tennessea; I was only going to change the location, but it turned into a whole new song. Different story, tune is "little old Sod Shanty on my Claim", which seems to be the basis for most Bluegrass Ballads. This one's a "Bluewater-Bluegrass ballad" I Sitting by the window of my little home Looking out across the shining sea It's been home and haven from which I seldom roam It has always meant the world to me Two centuries have found, the timbers still are sound And there's no place where I would rather be. Overhad on high, the gulls go soaring by My happy home in Newport, by the Sea II I can well remember, many years ago strolling with my sweetheart by my side Down among the sand dunes, where the wild sea grasses grow There she promised she would be my bride NOT ANOTHER MAN CAN HOLD HER HEART AND HAND SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SO TRUE TO ME. AND SO I'M EVER FAITHFUL, NEVER WILL I STRAY FROM MY HAPPY HOME IN NEWPORT BY THE SEA. I guess I did borrow some from prses from Mr. Wiseman. Oick your own "Newport" There are a lot of them in other states. and countries Merry Christmas happy new year, Hkannuka and Ramadan to all.
