Tech: Caps Lock Key Locked

Subject: Tech: Caps Lock Key Locked (how to)
From: Mr Red

With a bit of copper wire and a screw. And a hole in the Caps Lock Key to form a bolt (rotating around the screw instead of a sliding bolt) which prevents accidental pressing of the CapsLock Key and SHOUTING.

Of course I could have removed the Key cap and kept a pen to poke the key but you know how pens never stay still while you look away.

CAPtivating?

Have a Happytapping New Year All.

...or, this little program will, among other things, sound an alarm if you hit the CAPSLOCK. You can tell it when to work, whan noise to make, when NOT to work...etc...

I don't seem to have this problem. I watch what I type, and if it is all CAPS I just check the CapsLock key.........

I know there are programs to delay Caps Lock they cost money and the length of time it took me to make this bolt for the keyboard was about twice that of the download time.
AND not I don't always watch the screen as I type nor focus on every keystroke. So yes I do need this.
But I don't shout as much as I used to!!!!!!

It's the clever ones who can touch type who have this problem - I have to check.

I would assume that most decent WP programs are like Word, in that you can elect to have the "AutoCorrect" function "fix" "two initial caps." (Tools - Autocorrect and check the box.) You can also check the box for "correct accidental Caps Lock."

With this second function turned on, if you use the shift key with the Caps Lock turned on (so that you'd get something like "wITH THIS ..."), it will automatically change everything to lower case, Cap the first character, and turn off Caps Lock.

Also, if you find that you've accidentally typed a bunch of shouts, (in Word) you can highlight (select) text and use Shift-F3 to cycle through "all lower case," "Initial Caps On Everything," and "ALL CAPS" until you get what you want. (You may have to change your selection to zero in.)

But if duct tape and bailing wire works, by all means use it.
