If you have two or three (or even just one) biggish thing like a guitar or banjo, you need double the space if you put your gear on stands. Now, since herself has taken up the golf, she has a bag for clubs with a very clever built-in stand: you lean the bag back and push down, and two spindly legs pop out and hold the bag at about 60 degrees. If one of these was fixed to the back of (say) a guitar case, the case would double as a stand, and save all that space, the instrument would be safer, it would be easily accessible, and you wouldn't have to struggle with cases and stands. Anyone know if the stands are available separately? Steve |

You could probably find a secondhand trolley cheaply and make a fixing for your guitar case. Of course if you've got tables etc in the room where you're performing, the simplest way of stopping your guitar falling over is a bit of bluetack. |

My guess is that they came out about twenty years ago. I haven't been in a golf Pro shop for so long that I can't say whether they still sell them seperately or not. If you can't get them new I'm sure that you could get one at a Play It Again Sports or another used Sporting goods store. Good luck. |

Dave Bryant, liked your 'blue tack' hint- good for stop-gap. i use it for holding my plectra to the guitar. ['cept mines 'white tack'- a lot of people think i've got 'em stuck in chewing gum!] |

I attached a bit of copper tubing and some padding here and there as well as some velcro straps. Now I can slip the bass into its gig bag, strap it onto the golf bag cart and wheel that beauty just about anywhere. The stand is also a nice place to prop the bass upright while at home rather than to lean it in a corner or to lay it down. |

(padded to keep 'em cool) which has a zipper which runs the length of it and a shoulder carry strap whick works just fine to carry a music stand and/or microphone and cord in. hooray for garage sales and yard sales and thrift stores-- and the creative spirit! |

The reason is that most golf courses now require that players use electric carts. It speeds up play so they are able to run more players per day through the course. Plus they get the added income from the cart rental. Thirty years ago most players walked while pulling their clubs along behind them. Only the lazies rode carts. Now the old type carts are about as useless as tits on a boar hog. BTW the new style golf bags with wheels are really only designed to be rolled short distances, like from the parking lot to the cart shack. They'd probably never stand up to being pulled around too many 18-hole rounds. (No, I don't play golf, but my stepson manages a course.) Bruce |

06 Jan 03 - 09:04 PM (#860296) Subject: RE: Golf bag stands on instr. cases From: Mr Happy i used to use a two wheel shopping trolley for transporting my very heavy hard case guitar + hard case squeezebox around festival sites, but two wheels a bit hard going. i now use a 'baby buggy'. far greater load capacity & easy to push. i can now give 'lifts' to other muso's cases as well! at one fest this year, it carried 3 guitars,a mandolin,2 banjos,a bodrhan, & a large african drum + a bag with my 'personal bar' in it all in one go! its also very handy for transporting heavy water on campsites. |

Took the straps off, a bit of judicious plier-work, some stick-on Velcro, and there we are: a detachable guitar-case stand which doesn't need to be carried separately. Maybe I could sell a few -- any takers? BTW, spending our second honeymoon next door to St David's Golf Club in Harlech, Wales, we didn't see anyopne on anything but Shanks's pony: there's civilised Now I have a new problem. I'm thinking of swapping my car for something less squeaky. It's a Rover 400, with a decent-sized boot (trunk) that will hold a couple of guitars and a fiddle or two. The big guitar case fits with or without the stand; but even without, it's too big for a lot of cars. I don't want to leave it in full view if I have to leave the car unattended (remember what happended to the guy who left his banjo on the back seat!), so it has to go out of sight. Modern (European) cars tend to curve inwards at the back, reducing boot width. aybe I should just wait till square cars come back into fahion...? Meanwhile, the golf stand is a success. Steve |

Heavy water is H2O with an extra neutron in the nuclei each of the Hydrogen atoms, making them into Deuterium, hence the symbol D2O above, posted by Guest.
