09 Jan 03 - 08:55 AM (#862495) Subject: RE: BS: Who fancies Eliza Carthy? From: Aidan Crossey Wolfgang ... But have you heard her sing "Diego's Bold Shore"? Hearing her sing it live on the Folkworks tour was, for me, the musical highlight of last year. It was one of those lump-in-throat, dizzying moments which will stay with me for some time. (The version on "A Dark Light" comes pretty close ... and is probably the track I've played most over the past few months.) I think Lize will simply get better and better as the years roll on and she settles into a more permanent groove. By the way ... I came home from the pub late last night a tad pisht after a session and made a posting which I thought was vaguely funny. But in sobriety it doesn't read at all funny. Lesson Number 569 ... don't make postings when you're twisted! Aidan |

09 Jan 03 - 11:56 AM (#862706) Subject: RE: BS: Who fancies Eliza Carthy? From: Wolfgang Aidan, I guess you have it right with the effect of the years rolling on. Many truly good singers (musicians) become better with age. Maybe in ten years I'll say Waterson and Carthy were very good but you must hear their daughter.... Wolfgang |
