Public help question: Cocaine song again

Still seeking a particular recording of the song that starts "Early one morning I was making my rounds, I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down".

The friend who lent me her tape (now lost) containing the song tells me that it was a Capitol collection of hits of (she thinks) the 1940s, part of a series that had various decades of American music.

Anyone?

Found a likely candidate in the Digital Tradition called "Cocaine Blues 2".   Entered 'shot by' in the search window.

Someone answered this in the previous thread on this. It is a song by T.J. 'Red' Arnall and the most popular recording was by Roy Hogsed. It is the title track of a Bear Family reissue collection of Hogsed sides: Roy Hogsed 'Cocaine Blues' Bear Family BCD 16191 AH.
