Tech: Erasing a CD

25 Jan 03 - 02:00 PM (#874754)
Subject: Tech: Erasing a CD
From: Snoozer

I have created Audio CDs using the default media player on a Windows XP system.
Does anyone know if these CDs can be erased and/or re-used? And is so, how?

Thanks,
Snooz

Only if they were CD-RW's can the be 'erased' and re-used...

as Clinton says, some CDs are RW (Re-Writable), but these are not usually used for music. Re-writable is usually reserved for data files and backups, where some info is changing regularly and needs to be updated.

One problem with CD-RW is that it 'usually' cannot be read/played by a standard CD player, so putting music on it limits its usefulness.

CD-R cost 25cents to less than 10cents (US) on sale.

Throw it away and start with a new one
