Sun Inn 1st Sunday, and PTH: Yorkshire

30 Jan 03 - 07:03 AM (#878320)
Subject: Sun Inn Beverley, 1st Sunday + PTH in Evening
From: The DeanMeister

It's that time of the month again, people of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire... This sunday is the First Sunday Session at the Sun Inn, Beverley. Hope to see you all there for the usual bout of inane stupidity, poor music and bear9HOI.

In addition to the usual session, some daft planning once again means that the equine pugilists will also be doing their peculiar brand of Mexican Hat Dancing from 8.30 onwards.

Looking forward to seening you all Sunday!!

Pete.

Gosh is it that time already!

I think I may be able to make it ...is it a 2 o'clock kick off?

How enticing, O Meister. Busy day for you versatile chaps!

However, I have taken advice on breaking my near-disabling Hull addiction, and am going for the cold turkey option (patches or nasal sprays not being available on the NHS).

Fortunately, distraction is available for me this weekend with the massed ranks of the Shellback Chorus: a weekend of singing, real ale and steam trains (your sort of thing, Oaklet dear?) so I may well last a whole hour or so this weekend without the urge to head Hullwards.

Hoist a glass of BearHOI for me please, if you've a mind, and I hope to play a certain Oakley tune with you all again, when I'll allow myself...

Despite the fact that no PTH members were in evidence at my (otherwise well-attended) session last week, I shall be there on Sunday and will attempt to cough in time to the music.

ps

Did you see a photo on the front page of the local paper (Beverley Guardian) of my dog drinking a pint in the Sun? It was followed two pages later by a photo of me and the dog (oh, and one of Steve & Elaine)

Just some harmless publicity for the Sun and their CAMRA award and, of course, for our sessions and band bookings. She doesn't really drink beer - the photo was posed!

Missed the photies, Roger.

Apologies for non attendance, Mr. Busby. However, PTH were playing from 4 till 7 in Driffield on Saturday, Mr Watson and myself attended and played on Saturday night at the Sun, and PTH were also playing in Broughton, Lincs on Sunday evening. We managed to attend both performances in spite of ill health, and Mr. McGarry losing his mother unexpectedly on Friday. I suspect attending a session Sunday afternoon may have been stretching it a bit too far..!

Glad to hear the session was well attended. Hope to see you sunday, mate.

Noreen, we will raise a tankard or two in your honour. Have fun with Shellback!

2 o'clock Kick off indeed, John.

Sorry to hear about your mother, Mick.

O Meister of the Deans, I shall indeed be having fun with half the shanty-singing population of the country. Anyone who passed up on the chance to be there will be surely kicking themselves for their utter folly!

Mine's a Black Sheep- and despite rumours to the contrary, it is to be drunk as normal, and not wasted by being smashed on the flags, (Linda!), or anywhere else!

Hoist the Bear9HOI high!

The reprimand was, of course, tongue in cheek - I knew that you had a gig since the estimable Mary sends me a copy of each new giglist. It was a bit mad in the Sun on Saturday night don't you think?

Totally insane, Roger. Enjoyed it every minute though! Sorry, didn't mean to sound so sharp, mate.

I'm over here in the West Riding at the moment and may not get back to Beverley through the snow. I have been drumming up custom for the Sunday session amongst the good folk over here and some of them may turn up too if the snowploughs can clear a path.

Yes, I'm back - the state of the weather over here in the East had been rather exaggerated in the reports. Mind you, there was nothing at all to the west of the Ouse and some snow to the East.

No excuses for there not being a huge turn out tomorrow then

I trust that Oakley will bring us back a stick of rock from Banbury - or at the very least a clipping from his big toe. I will try to make Sunday but am out of favour with the other half so may have to put up wallpaper instead. This will be a shame since Hazlet and I have a new song which is a little bit spooky and could do with an outing.

Thanks to everybody for such a great turn-out yesterday! A thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a cold damp Sunday. See you all again next month.

Congratulations on the acquisition, Oakley. May you have many enjoyable hours pruning. Personally, I prefer to chew tham.

Whilst endorsing Pete's "see you all next month" I'd also like to remind people that we have two acoustic workshops (Tomorrow and Tuesday 18th) plus my last Sunday of the month session(Sunday 23rd) before then - everyone is welcome to come to those.

Whilst the hospitality of the establishment is never in doubt, I cannot personally vouch for the food, Ladies! Sorry to hear u were poorly, Linda. I didn't eat so I can't really comment on the source of your malady. Hope u better now, babe?
