05 Feb 03 - 05:43 AM (#882925) Subject: RE: Peelers' Folk Club - Bloxwich UK From: the lemonade lady Just a little finale to this thread... it took us an hour and a half to get to this gig in Keith's Galaxy...oooh luxury. There were only a few people there (15-20?) but they seemed to enjoy themselves and I know we did. Trevor's 'Robin Hood was a man....' went down well and we interspersed with trad, contemp and non-con hymns. I did my 'Whispering Grass' and Trev and I rocked our way through 'Goodnight Irene'. Dawn (our new girl) sang 'Seeds of love' like an angel, and Chris' 'Workers' song' was as strong as ever on the 12 string. So all in all a good evening was had. We sang all the way back down the m/way to the welsh border lands, battling through the snow. At one point on the way back to Montgomery we had to get out and push! Oh what fun...home 2am. Thanks to those who were there and shame on those who missed us!!! We will be at The Woodbridge (nr Ironbridge) next Wednesday (12th) so you could go there I s'pose. Sal |

I think it's one of the few pubs I've never been in round that way. My Auntie Marie lives round the corner (in case I need an excuse!) My grandad laid the masonry at the bottom of the clock that used to stand in the park next door. Steve |

05 Feb 03 - 07:37 AM (#882980) Subject: RE: Peelers' Folk Club - Bloxwich UK From: Trevor My car didn't get home at all! Off the road on some ice, through a hedge and stopped by a drift on the edge of a drop into a deep gully! Two miles through the snow and it was nearly time to get up for work again. Had to commandeer a Lannie to pull me out at 7 this morning. Squilver never looked better though than at dawn this morning. Despite that, thanks for having us Peelers and thanks for the nice comments - makes the hassle well worthwhile. |
