06 Feb 03 - 09:06 AM (#883949) Subject: Obit: Nancy Whiskey - RIP From: Fiolar The death has occurred of the singer and guitarist Nancy Whiskey. Born as Anne Wilson in 1935, she will always be remembered for the catchy skiffle number "Freight Train" which she sang with the Charles McDevitt group in 1957. It was a success on both sides of the Herring Pond and possibly made "Nancy" as one of the few "skifflers" next to Lonnie to be remembered. I'll bet she and him are hitting the washboards now. Farwell, part of my youth. |

Sad to think another one's gone: Ken Colyer (the real father of UK skiffle), Wally Whyton, Lonnie... RtS |
