No, the one I'm looking for is the same story but transferred to the Birmingham Canal Navigations, and involves a trip from (I forget where) to the Patent Shaft works in Wednesbury, in what was then Staffordshire. It's possibly unknown outside the Midlands (and maybe largely so inside the Midlands!). Steve |

He lives at Stoke Bruerne which isn't that far from the BCN (well not by road - a couple of days via the GU though). You can probably find his number in the phone book - if not PM me for it. |
