Can this be fixed by me or should I take it to a repair shop? I know very little about computers, especially all the lingo that goes with them, so feel free to talk down to me when you answer. Thanks, Steve. |

I used to get a blueish screen caused by a loose monitor connection. Secondly ....check that the computer isn't overheating ..... if a fan fails, strange things can happen. Thirdly .... if you would like to upgrade ...check out the prices of new monitors ..... it may be easier to buy new if the repair bill is going to be high. |

And they do get dim after a few years. But yes, check your connections and your settings first. |

13 Feb 03 - 06:43 PM (#889857) Subject: RE: Tech: computer screen colors dimming From: Cluin Check the manual that came with your monitor, if you still have it. Maybe there are controls that need to be reset. Sometimes you can reset your monitor for more vividness or temperature correction. Also, go into your Control Panel (are you on a PC running Windows) and check your settings there. If you've already done this, looks like you need a new monitor. They DO wear out, though not usually before your processor or hard drive does. I've got an older HP scanner that just doesn't scan as well any more due to the light not being as bright any more. Can't change the light in it though. |
