Click here for some user reviews of various Lowden models at the Harmony Central website. There have also been several other threads on Lowdens in the past. Go to the forum home page and type "Lowden" in the "Filter" box, set the age to "all" and click "Refresh". Bruce |

15 Feb 03 - 10:47 PM (#891348) Subject: RE: Tech: advice on aLowden F- 12 Custom Guitar From: michaelr Oh, sorry... what with all the anti-war protesting today, I'm afraid I've fallen into sloganeering mode... ;-) IMO, Lowdens are some of the best-sounding, warmest and most responsive guitars being made for reasonable prices (meaning factory-made, not custom-order luthier instruments). They're very lightweight and lightly braced, which enables the top and back to resonate freely. My O10 has a cedar top which I prefer to spruce, again because it sounds warmer. Despite its jumbo size it's not the loudest guitar, but the tone can't be beat. Does that help? Cheers, Michael |

This was over current Martins, Taylors, Collings, Guild, Gibsons. The cedar top provides for an immediate warm and full sound. While it is purported to not improve with age, IMO it doesn't need to. Also, its my opinion that if you "love" your guitar, you'll play more. Ed |

Then I stopped playing the other guitars... there really was no point. Then I sold 'em all, as I wasn't playing them. Now I just have the Lowden for pleasure and for recording, plus a little Ozark travel guitar just for holidays. Lowden guitars take some beating, but as there are so many different models, visit a guitar showroom and play a few before deciding on which model best suits your playing. |

I'm not trying to patronise you but my lady has a problem with my guitar because of this. |
