How 'bout it, folks? Can we jam in the park on March 2? It's my only possible weekend time in March. Is that a good day for the rest of you?

I am up for it, as I said last thread, unless I get called out to a hardware test event out of town, which is possible.

But we could mebbe get Hugh and Bear and Bart and the Shy Fiddler to turn out, and may be Pat the banjopicker and even Paul with a fiddle.

I'll pencil it in as soon as Banjoest checks in. He's like, man, the anchor, ya know? The Walter Cronkite of Balboa Park singalongs!! :>)

"Walter Cronkite here with the CBS Evening News. Today the Viet Cong invaded the village of Suck-Muck-Dick....." Remember them days?

Anyway, I'll see what Bear and Janet are doing. Mike the mandolin player can't make it because he shows his airplaine on the first Sunday of the month. Shy Fiddler said she can't make it either. I'll get back with you..."And that's the way it was."

Sounds promising, folks. Hope the weather holds up.

BTW, Hugh, is that Suk-Muk-Dik guy any relation to the terrorist suspects Ibn Farteen and Gofuk Yusef?? (SNL had a skit a few weeks ago about Ashcroft being really excited at all the responses the government had gotten to its spy-on-your-neighbor program -- mostly from college boys.)

Well, folks,
When I left town last Monday, I could see Mt. Rainier from Portland (as well as St. Helens, Adams, and Hood, of course). Then I flew into cloudy San Diego and was awakened Monday night from "raindrops falling on my head" in bed! What's with all the heavy rain down here, guys?

The roof has stopped leaking, but the rain may keep up off and on through Sunday. Weather forecast was iffy.

Anyway, if my bronchial cough abates by then and the weather cooperates, I'm still up for the park jam. How about you folks?

Genie:

One is a village in South East Asia and them other two are guys from the Middle East.

I'm still on for the jam....Weather permitting.

Wet Weather will be gone by Friday, says the Akashic Record Reading weatherman...who is widely revered as providing the best SWAGS in town!

Weather was decent today, so I'll keep my fingers crossed till Sunday
... er...wait ... I gotta play guitar tonight and tomorrow, so that won't work.

Anyway, I'll be a the park, weather being passable. I have to leave the jam by about 2:00 or 2:15 to get to San Marcos by 3:30, so I hope we can start right about noon. (Heck, I might even get there a few minutes before noon.)

BTW, how far is 163 from where we jam in the park? (I think the best route to SM is 163 to 15 to 78.)

Genie:

I always get to the park a few min's early, just to look around and feel the sun. Noon IS the offcial starting time.

I'll see you there.

Later Dude,

Hugh

Well, gang, thanks for a really fun day. Not only did Genie blow into   town in time to join us but Mr Naemanson his OWN self appeared and really spiced up the afternoon with his renditions -- I am especially in love with the one he sang about the bloke whose wife suggests he advertise for a mistress, and then runs away with the successful candidate! Plus that Naemanson does a-capella sheerly boodifully. Not only that but we got to hear about Christine Lavin, a current infatuation of mine, who conspired to meet him in the airport!! Then we had Tall Paul the Fiddler, Grinnin' Bear and Smokin' Bart on guitar and sometimes bass, Genie's fine fingering and soprano and me goin' "Ump!" at appropriate times. I'd say it came out very well.

The weather, as Mister N will attest, was nearly perfect, and everyone was in fine fettle. We had a grand time and the passersby were just bowled over by the ringing of that Banoest 5-string!! I am just sorry we couldn't have bundled up a few bales of that sunshine for him to take back to Kendall and Charley Noble and Mary and all those poor haddocks in the Far North Down East region.

Thanks for making the scene, Bret!

Yeah, Naemonson, I really enjoyed your contributions. (Sorry I had to leave when the jam was getting in full swing, but I hadda go 'sing for my supper.')

Looks like we may have recruited a new Mudcatter, too--a female folkie from Spokane, who sang with us on "Night Rider's Lament" and whom Amos and I gave the info about the website. Hope she'll make an appearance here soon.

Amazing how the weather cooperated, too. Rainy and cold all week and moving in that direction again today and tomorrow, but Sunday was the best day of all since I arrived in SD on Feb. 24!

How does the last Sunday in April sound for a repeat, folks? (My only weekend in SD before June.)

What's this I hear about another jam March 16?

(I can't be there, but y'all seem to draw a crowd whenever you jam. Heck, I think folks at Balboa Park are gonna start EXPECTING music every Sunday!)

As for me, I hope to see you folks on April 25.

Nice to check in here and hear what really was happening. Guess, I'll have to put San Diego on the trip map for some time soon.

Cheerily,
