Aww, and I thought that you'd all be coming back to Beverley on Sunday for my session - this being the last Sunday of the month and all.

Glad you put this up, we're looking forward to seeing the infamous PTH but I was wondering whether the silence meant something might have gone wrong.

Infamous eh? not the first time weve been called that, and we are not generally known for our silence-shyness mayhap?

Contrary to the outrageous remarks made at times by the fraud oakley I am not generally a self promoter. This is not to be mistaken with the genuine desire to inform our adoring fan of our doings and were abouts.

Gnomad,we will of course be delighted to see,and hopefully hear, you.

Sorry about the sing on the sun at the sun rog but cant be everywere.

John Butler has informed me that there will be a session in his pub on the fri night. Some of PTH are aiming to get to the Endevour about nine pm.on fri.if that makes sense?

The only shameless self promotion going on here seems to be being very subtly done by Sir Rog! I believe that's advertising by the back door, but good luck to the auld man, bless him.....

Anyway, not sure I'm speaking to Rog after discovering a top secret recording alliance between his good self and my two favourite songstresses, Hazel and Linda. It would appear that my services have been dispensed with...??? :-(

Subject: RE: punch the horse at whitby this sat.
From: Sir Roger de Beverley

Hazel&Linda for backing vocals - the Deanmeister for guitar. Horses for courses, although I haven't had a chance to ask Pete yet, but I will.

In fact "roll in sweet baby's arms" is probably going to be on the album so how could I do that without that guitar intro and the homoerotic banter from the Dean himself. We could also flesh out the chorus vocals with Mick himself since he does like to join in on that one.

Come to think of it, there are so many good musicians around that I'll probably not even turn up myself - just let you all get on with it :-))

And, yes, it was subtle self promotion in the earlier message. I'd been thinking of posting one myself when Mick beat me to it and I thought that I'd jump on the bandwagon so to speak.

yes Peter, great if you could join us.

Raggy lad, will be smashing and super to see you again, please try not to upset the axeman. He is,like me, a sensitive soul.

Delighted to flesh out anything Rog!!!! I am adding "sweet babys arms" to repetoir,as you said it is a favourite of mine.Wouldnt it be great to have some of the original Nellies Sunday Sessionares laid down on CD for posterity!!!This song always reminds me of the great times we have had together over the last four,or is it more years?

Linda babes,I am getting a little concerned about this work obsession of yours, weekends are for fun, merryment, song and drinking large quantities of Bear9Hoi!!!!!!

I choose my words carefully and "flesh out" seemed appropriate. You said earlier in this thread that you couldn't be everywhere but I do feel that you could be omnipotent if not omnipresent.I'll definitely feel your ghostly presence on Sunday when I raise a glass at 4pm in the Sun (not so subtle self promotion this time!)

That typing ..............thats what Tetleys does for you ......and that was first thing this morning.
Yes Michael I shall be at the caravan this weekend, repairing damage. Apparently Whitby has had a bad case of wind...............probably caused by consumption of fluids in Butlers Beer Dispensing Emporium, which has created havoc on Stoupes Cross.
After having (hopefully)made good the repairs I hope to be able to avail myself of the company of yourself and the good Lady Mary.
Without wishing to cause upset to the aforementioned Mr Butler I will in all truth probably hold court with my instrument in the Black Horse on Friday night before being enthralled by the furious sounds of P t H on Saturday night in the Endeavour.
Finally may I make an observation, as there are numerous, nay, innumerable threads regarding Punch the Horse on the site, would it be prudent to date then. As in Punch the Horse at Whitby 22 February. "This Sat" could easily pertain to any of at least 52 this year alone.

Hi,
Just joined mudcat after using it as info source when I moved from Beverley to Scarborough last summer. Most of you know me - only missed a few the Nellie's sessions out of the 4 years! (Mick - A Sunday sessions CD is long over due!)

As you are all up in Whitby this weekend, I'll have to catch you on Sat night (What time is Kick off?) Hopefully there's a late last bus!

John.

O dear! abject apologies for not mentioning the date, hope the Oakers turns up.Brid widder you will be sorely missed.

Rog,the ghostly McGarry there is a first!!

Re: CD Re: Bear9hoi -I make this remark purely in the interest of promoting the ethos of live music and needless to say with no hidden motive, but maybe that generous, kind, handsome, music loving landlord Steve could be pursueded to push a few scoops our way?

On the melodean front I am sure ther are people out there better qualified than I to comment!!

John, delighted to hear from you! of course I remember you.

Dont know kick off time, bit elastic round the whitters, but I would think round about 9pm.Maybe you could make the sing around on the sunday as well.

As for recording; I have got permission from steve(SUN) ok.
Iam definatly recording 'Blind lemons hot five' at said venue, & ni'on recording PTH-LIVE!
BUT...as far as the Sunday is concearned- for each tune/song I would have to adjust the mics accordingly, rather than everybody swopping places. That means me flying about like a headless chicken! But, it would be worth it!
Lets face it, we do get a good sound. It could be a real good CD.
Talk to me with your ideas, John&Chrissy. Dolphin harps, portable digital recordings. (Did someone mention self promotion on this thread!!)Anyhow, we made a good start on Sir Rogers CD yesterday.
Peace, Johnny.

btw

Had you heard that Steve(at the Sun) is taking on a second pub from Monday? The Queens Head in Beverley - Myself and the CAMRA rep are talking to him now about the beer policy in the new venue (four handpumps, I think). Fear not, the Sun will continue unabated as a real music and real ale venue

Steve is running the Sun, Elaine is running the Queens Head but obviously they will share and exchange duties and, I assume, will do joint ordering of beers, food etc.

They have no plans to abandon the Sun, they're just building an empire

By the way, I had a splendid time in Whitby. Only got back yesterday (thursday) afternoon. The weather stayed beautiful the whole time we were there! Loads of walking, hill climbing, crab hunting, pub lunches and sunshine. Thoroughly relaxing. Batteries fully recharged.

It was also great to see so many friends at the weekend. Gig was great, and the weekend as a whole was a lovely experience, brethren. See you all again soon.

Pete.

Ps. Don't forget Sun Inn this Sunday!!!
