I'd ike to know the singer and where I can find the track. It's a very moving number where a woman is telling how she refuses to be independent. It's a positive spin on this sentiment. That is, the lyrics call attention to the fact that she won't settle for a relationship that does not recognize a mutual emotional support/dependence for the two people involved. I believe that in the refrain, she wails: "I won't be independent" thanks for listening. get back to me here: ddevivo@hotmail.com |

Although she died in 1993 of a brain aneurism, there is a MySpace page for her where you can hear this song, so I transcribed it, even though it doesn't quite fit the description in the request above: INDEPENDENT BLUES Valerie Wellington I don't need no man hang around and bother me. (2x) Yeah, I'm tired of all you mistreaters always tryin' to mistreat me. All you no-good men stop hangin' round my door. (2x) You don't mean me no good. All you want is a whore. Yeah, I gained independence. Now I'm glad that I'm free. (2x) I don't need none o' you men tryin' to bother me. Yeah, I been downhearted since my good man's been gone. (2x) So all you no-good paupers, yeah, you can travel on. |
