Does anyone have music for an obscure (I think) fiddle tune called Hobb Die? I think I heard Kenny Baker do it and I have always wanted to have the music. I've yet to find a florida fiddler who knows it...What is a hobb die anyway? haprgirl

Not my request, but I'd like to know, too.

Dale,
I found the music in an autoharp book published by Stephen Young in California. It is old time and fiddle tunes for the autoharp. I think it is a machinist's term .I can send it by fax or snail mail if you have numbers...I can't do that abc thing yet...harpgirl

No need to do that much, though I appreciate the offer. (I don't do music, either) I DO know it was recorded by Kenny Hall on his Philo album from 1974. He probably told a little bit about it in his notes. Now if I can just find that album . . .

I just checked at the Folk Index, and found that Pop Wagner and Bob Bovee also recorded it on their Train on the Island album. I talked briefly with Pop when he played the Ozark Folk Center last year. If I could have had it in mind, I would have asked him.

I'll let you know if I turn up anything else.
