I have the sheet music somewhere, but you saved me the transcription -- and your chords are simpler, too. (Minor correction: the last line should read "I hope you're satisfied...".) Genie |
16 Mar 03 - 09:34 PM (#911615) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Goody, Goody (I have lyrics, need chord From: Sorcha Genie, just a small thing, but MCP/Mick is not Micca. Thanks, Mick. Iwasn't sure, and my 2nd e mail bounced too. He'll just have to come back here. |
17 Mar 03 - 05:21 AM (#911736) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Goody, Goody (I have lyrics, need chord From: GUEST,MCP Genie - they might prefer the more complicated chords. I thought I'd wait and see on that. (And the typo is because I just took a set of words from one of the many online and didn't proof it before adding the chords). Sorcha - I think dontsend@mail.com might be trying to tell you something. (And thanks for the name misunderstanding correction above). Mick |
17 Mar 03 - 08:08 PM (#912182) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Goody, Goody (I have lyrics, need chord From: Genie Sorry, Mick (and Sorcha). I do know that MCP (Mick) is not Micca. I just couldn't see Mick's post when I scrolled down to post my reply, and all I remembered was the "Mic...". I should have re-checked to make sure who posted the chords before I replied. Mick, it IS nice to have the 'real chords' (jazz chords), too. It's just that in some settings (like jam sessions with your average 3-chord crowd) I like to use simplified (more 'folk-y') chords. Genie (And yoo're not the frist Mudactter to missspel a werd.) |

30 Oct 11 - 01:21 PM (#3247095) Subject: Lyr Add: GOODY GOODY (Mercer/Malneck) From: Jim Dixon Most recordings leave out the verse, and the variation in the second chorus. This is my transcription: GOODY-GOODY Words and music by Johnny Mercer and Matt Malneck. New York: Crawford Music Corporation, ©1936 As sung by Johnny Mercer on "Johnny Mercer Sings Johnny Mercer" (Essential Media Group LLC, 2010) You told me there wasn't a lesson in lovin' that you hadn't learned. Oh, yeah? Oh, yeah! You figured to go along flirtin' with fire without gettin' burned. Oh, yeah? Oh, yeah! So you met someone who set you back on your heels. Goody-goody! So you met someone, and now you know how it feels. Goody-goody! So you gave him your heart too, Just as I gave mine to you, And he broke it in little pieces. Now how do you do? So you lie awake just singin' the blues all night. Goody-goody! And you think that love's a barrel of dynamite. Hooray and hallelujah! You had it comin' to ya. Goody-goody for him! Goody-goody for me! And I hope you're satisfied, you rascal you. So you lie awake just singin' the blues all night. Goody-goody! And you think that love's a barrel of dynamite. You had it coming to ya, And you don't like it, do ya? Goody-goody for him! Goody-goody for me! Goody-goody for your indiscretion, too! And I hope you're satisfied, you baddy you. * 78-rpm recordings: Eddy Duchin and His Orchestra, Columbia 35255, 9/26/39 The Five C's, United 180, 05/25/54 Johnny Johnson and His Orchestra, Melotone 6-05-01, 3/4/36 Joe Loco and His Orchestra Featuring Joe Loco's Quintet, Tico 10-225 The Modernaires, Coral 60726 Mel Torme, Coral 61507 |
30 Oct 11 - 03:01 PM (#3247141) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Add: Goody Goody (Mercer/Malneck) From: pdq Johnny Mercer is very well known to the general public but Matty Malneck is not. Malneck was a very important part of Paul Witeman's orchestra from 1926-1935 and did arrangements and other support of Whiteman. Both learned the violin from Whiteman's father, a music teacher. |
