01 Apr 03 - 03:17 PM (#923812) Subject: BS: a small reminderette From: Morticia I expect lots of you already know this and do this but whilst I was giving blood yesterday the nurse mentioned that they ( the UK Blood Donation service)are getting a little anxious about blood supplies. In these troubled times, whether you agree with this current unpleasantness or not, it is one small thing you can do...so if you haven't already... hop on down there and stick out an arm,'kay? |

01 Apr 03 - 07:22 PM (#924000) Subject: RE: BS: a small reminderette From: Beccy I've got a hat trick of reasons they won't let me here in the US... I keep trying, hoping they'll relax the rules, but hey- better safe than sorry, eh? 1.) I'm mildly underweight 2.) I'm pregnant 3.) I spent more than a year in Europe during the "prohibited" years. (mad cow and whatnot- though I'm not sure I heard a word about mad cow in 1990...) Beccy |

02 Apr 03 - 05:19 PM (#924782) Subject: RE: BS: a small reminderette From: robomatic I'm a regular donor and my company hosts a red cross mobile every six weeks. It's not easy for everybody but for those with large easy to reach veins it's pretty painless and a beer when you get home goes three times as far! Robo |

02 Apr 03 - 05:33 PM (#924796) Subject: RE: BS: a small reminderette From: JenEllen Something I hadn't thought about, but when the local RC was calling to remind me that it was donation time I told them I'd recently had surgery and couldn't donate, they said that they could always use the help in the 'juice and cookies' brigade from non-donators. I took my regular donation time to mix some OJ and file some paperwork for them and they really appreciated the help. I suppose that pregnant, pierced, or post-surgical, we could all do a little something! ~JE |
