That last hug from Carol looked like it might give anyone a heart attack...

Make sure he takes it easy. My Mudcat Badge is looking a bit battered, and I'm going to need a new one.

Hey Tig....Gonna' be okay!!! Ol' Spaw been there, done that, and a whole lot more!!! There's going to be a change in a few things about lifestyle, but the amazing things that medical folks can do is beyond belief. I know it's scary as hell right now for all of you but I see it coming through happily on the other end!!!

Wanna' talk or ask questions, I'm your guy. I've been working on my medical degree from "U-GOT-IT University" and I'm really well versed in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery(:<))........Seriously, if you have questions, let me know. I translate Medicalese into plain English pretty well.

Great news! You're always going to be monitored in any cardio unit so as soon as Badger gets to feeling better, and I assume he's on remote telemetry with a little pack that sends the signal hooked to the bio sensors, here's something fun to do..........Give the thing a hard whack about every 30 seconds or so and see how long it takes before someone shows up.

He'll need these time wasters because once you're past the event and have a little rest, you feel pretty decent and are bored to tears.

Spaw

05 Apr 03 - 03:49 AM (#926571)
Subject: RE: BS: Badger has a heart attack
From: mouldy

Thinking of you all. If you need any running around I'll see if I can help out. (You know how to get hold of me).

Seems he's following the pattern of everyone else I know who's gone and done the same thing - they've all recovered well, and been home in a week or so. The rehab period is often the frustrating part, when they start to feel better, and yet find that as soon as they try and do stuff they're wiped out. He must do as he's told, so you'd better get your "Mrs. Ingram" hat on then, and remind him that patience is a virtue! (I wonder, has the old Squarehead got a thing about little girls in nursie dresses that he's never let on about? Some men will do anything to get that sort of attention!)

It must be something in the air at this time of year because of the 4 people I know (including badger) who have had the same in the last few years, 3 of them have been around Easter!

Give him a big kiss from me - I daren't do it personally 'cos I have just started with a cold. When he's out, I may pop down and annoy him!

Love and prayers to you all

Andrea

perhaps if there are any special instructions,
special diet, other life style changes,
we her on the mudcat could dare to do
them too in solidarity! I have heard of
chemo therapy patients whose friends, family,
neighbors, schoolmates, etc, shaved thier
heads when their friend was experiencing
hair loss due to cancer treatments, so
why not us follow suit and offer to join
in with Badger in any new regimen prescribed
by the docs?! we could all become part of
the healing process....do keep us posted
regarding his progress, and lets pin a
badge on him to remind him of all the
well wishers at the "Cat!!

Went in to see him this afternoon and he's TONS better - mind you he couldn't have looked much worse.

He's already decided to give up smoking and adjust his lifestyle - we'll have to wait and see about the second :-))) Last suggestion from him was that recuperation at The Globe sounded like a good idea!

The hospital of course are still muttering about 'early days' but seem reasonably happy with him. Kat and I are coping with Magicians help (thanks my lovex)

Today he was being cantankerous, bored silly and fed up. The hospital are very pleased with how he's doing and are taking him off the permanenet monitor.

Depending on the results of blood tests and getting his medication sorted they are looking at a possible discharge date of Tuesday!!!!!

We know it is going to be a long slog, but at least he's still with us.

Thanks for all the hugs and love.

It's now Monday Morning. I'm back at The Globe after my visit to Norton. Tig and Firecat are coping extremely well with the situation. John is doing well and does not seem to have done any serious damage to himself. He has his colour back and is ready to go home. He will be coming for some R&R at The Globe over Easter where he will be intalled in a corner of the bar with a dominoes board and a pint pot.

Gillie ran the pub on her own for the weekend and did a wonderfull job as landlady so I still had a pub to come back to.

He's rapidly finding out that he's no where near as clever as he thought he was. Everything exhausts him very quickly even just talking to people.

I printed off the thread and took it to him today as a little 'light' reading and he has asked me to thank all of you for the good wishes and comments. Spaw, he passed your suggestion for entertainment round his area of the ward!!

Hopefully we are looking at discharge later in the week. The doc said maybe tomorrow but his own nurse looked at his notes and said " Doctors know nothing" - so he's accepted that it will be at least Wednesday.

Thanks again to Magician and Gillie. Col K is coming over to stay for a few days from tomorrow night - so you can contact him here.

Just remember that when they tell you to start going for walks, they don't mean as far as the nearest pub so that you can have a "rest" before you set off back home! When you start off, keep in mind that however far you walk, it's just as far back.

This is Badger. Many thanks for your warm support - anything warm appreciated as I've so much blood-thinner in me that a gnats-fart can cause a chill and even a politician can see through me plasma.
(3min later) - having to go very slow at the moment but hopefully we'll be at our regular festivals later in the year, or some anyway - I wont be doing steep for quite a while.
Time to sleep - thanks lots for your messages and thoughts.
John Ingram - aka Badger.

Great news that you're back home. I hope things continue to go well with the recovery and that it won't be long till you're back at the festivals again.

All the best

Nicky

Glad you're back home John - seems I won't be able to keep the promise I made on your birthday to buy you a drink at Chester Festival on mine! Hope to catch up with you later in the year

Will anybody seeing Col K PLEASE give him a mega size hug from me.

He has just gone home after acting as 'Bodyguard' and hug machine for Badger, Firecat and me since last Tuesday.

THANKS A MILLION COL xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Badger is doing OK and behaving as well as can be expected (and sometimes even better than that) although he gets very tired very quickly.

Glad to hear progress report, Tig xx
And I'd be delighted to pass on the Col-hug, when I eventually see him- he's been rather busy for a while!
