Go to KaZaa to get the full versions. Check your ports for conflicts.

Go down the hall of your dorm-room. Find a male. He will show you how it is done.

Sincerely,

You are fortunate to be at a University - the best of the best is usually buried within their INTRA- net.

I use the ABC Converter - here - at Concertina.net
Just copy the ABC into it and it produces either MIDI file or sheet music

ABC CONVERTER

That may be a solution

I guess you mean this one (which doesn't seem to have been updated since 2000 and probably doesn't support the aligned lyrics, w:, too well) . If so what you are trying to download is zip file. I've just downloaded it so there is no problem with the site. If you are at a university, I'd suggest asking someone who knows that system as it could be something there blocking the download.

If you like Noteworthy, you may like to take a look at ABC2NWC. This is a shareware program that converts abc to noteworthy and Noteworthy to abc.

You might also like to take a look at Melody Assistant. This is a bit like Noteworthy but it can handle abc without the need to run other conversions.

If your'e not a Francophobe I'd suugest that you download the fully featured FREE ABC Player - ABC Navigator - at http://groink.chez.tiscali.fr/abcnavgt/mainfra.html. It has one of the better human interfaces of all the ABC free software.

It has some excelleny features if you like to play along with tunes. You can vary speed, transpose the key, sert for continuous play. One feature I particularly like is the ability to start at a particular Bar Number and the fact that the Bar Number is continuously displayed.

Purists might note that it doesn't play tied notes perfectly, but it's close enough for folk music.

While the website is in French my downloaded version has commands in English - not that it matters too much cos the whole thing works largely like a CD player.

Your conflict with NoteWorthy Composer might be really simple. On most PC's you are only allowed to have one application connected to your MIDI Out (Playback) at a time. Close NWC (or whatever audio you have open) and then try your other audio application. I know there are ways of avoiding these problems (by inssssstalling additional software) but it's never worried me so much that I've ever bothered to use it. It's called something like 'Hubble Loop Player" and ut's free.

Regards, John

I wasn't quite right with the name. You'll find the software at hitsquad.com - or use your favourite search engine.
