27 Apr 03 - 06:36 PM (#941520) Subject: Lyr Req: Gospel: So Pray, My Brother, Pray From: Ebbie Like many of us, I love gospel songs and grew up with them in Virginia. I remember many of the songs and still sing and teach them today. HOWEVER, there is one song that's been bedeviling my mind for months. I don't remember the title. I can remember only the chorus, both the tune and words; I can't 'hear' even a scrap of the verses. I've put every phrase into search engines, I've checked all the artists I can think of that might have recorded it, last night I even called someone in Oregon who I thought might remember it. No luck. So here's to the Cat - you've never let me down yet! I think it's a Reno and Smiley song; I seem to hear their guitar work in it. The chorus goes: "So, pray, my brother, pray Bow down on bended knee And the Lord shall hear your humble cry And surely answer thee." Many t'anks. |

28 Apr 03 - 12:29 AM (#941634) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Gospel: So Pray, My Brother, Pray From: Ebbie I see by the link, Sorcha, that Doyle Lawson and Qucksilver recorded this. Obviously, the one I learned came from farther back- my being from the dim, musty past and all. But I like Doyle Lawson so I'll check it out. Wyzzy, I'd like to but looking at the words again I suspect that the tune I'm remembering is actually from a different Reno and Smiley song that says something like "He's coming back to earth again..." I'll just keep on a-checkin'. Oh, oh, it won't be long now... I suddenly remembered I have that CD and I just now played the song. Blush, blush... |
