29 Apr 03 - 07:32 AM (#942628) Subject: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: My guru always said Come-All-Cats! Singaround / Session at the Bull Pub in Barton-le-Clay, Bedfordshire, UK (use postcode MK45 4LL for map search) on Monday 3rd May, kicking off at 8.30pm ish. What a good way to end the Bank Holiday weekend :-) All acoustic instruments (up to & including shaky eggs or pringles shakers *sigh*) & voices very welcome at this cosy venue and we're always glad to see new faces. If we get enough people & the pub is busy we'll see if we can get the function room opened up for us. Everywhere else will be closed, so come & join us! It's held fortnightly to run in tandem with the University of Luton Music Workshop which is hosted at the University on alternate Saturday mornings. Come if you can, but if you can't then perhaps you can come to the next one which will be on Monday 19th May, pop it in your diaries! |
29 Apr 03 - 11:27 AM (#942785) Subject: RE: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: GUEST,Ross Well done Hilary - climb every mountain etc. Should we organise a may pole? I see May Day is now Europe Day - Is this correct? |
29 Apr 03 - 12:57 PM (#942853) Subject: RE: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: GUEST,Piers Hi Ross, Europe Day is apparently on the 9th, so do some Maypole dancing before it requires a licence. Piers |
30 Apr 03 - 08:22 AM (#943423) Subject: RE: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: GUEST,Ross Thanks Piers I didn't know that - Are they trying to hijack the bank holiday by taking the day off, on the Monday before the ninth (as in we take the nearest Monday after the 1st) - just a thought Where is Europe - I thought it was down the M2 & through a tunnel? But friends tell me that it's a mystical land full of hobbits, elves & nasty monsters Does this explain Neil Kinnock? Who's coming Monday? |
30 Apr 03 - 08:45 AM (#943441) Subject: RE: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: My guru always said I'm hoping to have some energy left to come along - I'll be at the Upton-upon-Severn festival all weekend - might be a bit muddy though *g* |
30 Apr 03 - 10:15 AM (#943516) Subject: RE: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: GUEST,Piers Ross - I don't think they are trying hijack the bank holiday, as I can see from the website nothing, that anyone might notice, is happening at all. In my experience, the hobbits, elves & nasty monsters of Europe are no worse than those of Bedfordshire. However, rest assured that on Mayday I'll be dancing with the 'Harpenden Morris Persons' (actually, it's just me at the moment but I'm hoping to build up a side for next year) on the common from about 4.26am onwards. MGAS - you mean you're not going to be at the workshop! |

Good luck with your recruitment for the Harpenden Morris persons. Ross: I think you're right about the M2. |
01 May 03 - 05:51 AM (#944243) Subject: RE: Singaround Barton,Beds UK Monday 5th May From: Piers Well the first outing of the Harpenden Morris Persons went pretty well, I managed to build the side up to three (with the lady who sells the Big Issue in the high street, and 'barking' Sir Tarquin Ponsonby-Ramsbotham-Smyth, a local dignitary). We finally finished just after dawn when a council groundsmen informed us, that unless we put our clothes on he was going to call the police. Happy Mayday everyone Piers |
