05 May 03 - 08:11 PM (#946579) Subject: Bluegrass T.V Show the other night. From: Steve Latimer I was in a club the other night, the television was on with no sound. There was a show that had footage of the Carter Family, The Stanley Brothers, Little Jimmy Dickens, The Louvin Brothers as well as interviews with Vince Gill, Emmylou and a few others. Did anyone see it? It looked very good, but I didn't get the title or what channel it was on (although I suspect it was PBS). |

From: Ebbie I didn't see a whole show like that, but the other night while I was getting ready to go out, I saw Alison Krause and a singer named Shawn Colvin in front of an audience. They backed each other up in harmonies. Quite nice. Could that have been part of the show you saw? This was on PBS. |

06 May 03 - 11:21 AM (#947011) Subject: RE: Bluegrass T.V Show the other night. From: Pooby What a silly concept -- the TV is on, showing a bluegrass program, and the damn sound is turned off! Okay, maybe there was a band playing and having the TV sound on would've been inconsiderate, but in that case change the channel to a ball game or something. A music program with no sound? What's next? A decorating show with the picture blacked out? Poobs |

07 May 03 - 02:02 AM (#947571) Subject: RE: Bluegrass T.V Show the other night. From: Cluin I watched one on tonight on CMT called "The Lost Highway". It's a 4 part series documenting the history of country music. Tonight's was part 1, I think. It started with the Carter Family, them went on to the "brother groups" and the rise, fall and rise again of Bluegrass. Maybe that's the one? They did indeed include coments by Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou, Willie, etc,. The next one reviews the rise of honytonk music and Hank Sr. Not sure when it's on next though. Check the listings. |
