09 May 03 - 04:29 PM (#949594) Subject: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: katlaughing Born of the "where's Brett?" thread, let's have some fun with this one! Here's what started it in the other thread: Some thoughts on things to take, Naes; just for fun:
cheesecloth for covering things, ala mosquitto netting
lots of your own batteries, if they don't put you over your shipping weight limit, as they probably will be very expensive there
cotton, cotton, cotton clothing - less irritation from the heat and humidity than synthetics, though you might be able to pick up some awesome island clothing!
snake bite kit **BG**
corn starch or baby powder for those really sweaty parts :-)
hats
Rog, who lived in the Philippines says the only thing he'd bring is a swimsuit!
umbrella for those non-typhoon days:-)
rubber boots for when you are tired of your feet being wet and growing webbing
Have fun!! I am excited for you! kat |

09 May 03 - 04:51 PM (#949611) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: Naemanson Ooh, thanks for the link to the catalog. I'll have fun leafing through that. Any good sources for large luggage? I only own two small pieces. I'd like to get one large piece I can wear as a backpack and one wheeled soft sided piece. |

09 May 03 - 08:28 PM (#949639) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: Stilly River Sage Brett, Here's a good place to look for stuff like that. You don't necessarily have the entire range of colors to choose from at the remainder site, but if you are living dangerously, perhaps a chartrouse backpack isn't so bad? ;-) SRS |

09 May 03 - 09:59 PM (#949672) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: katlaughing About the electricity thing, wonder if BillD would let his hamsters got for a year or two to keep your *pewter* fired up? Anything solar-powered, esp. a fan or two would be good, I am sure! That catalogue is FUN! |

10 May 03 - 12:55 AM (#949726) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: GUEST Take small things important to you, like meds you might take for granted where you are now. Vitamin C? Stuff like that. The island has everything, but sometimes it's 'on the next ship'. |

10 May 03 - 11:50 AM (#949964) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: Charley Noble You may want to pack and take your own parachute rather than count on the one they hand you as you're flying over the island at 30,000 feet. There's a song waiting to be composed if you don't... Cheerily, Charley Noble |

10 May 03 - 12:46 PM (#950001) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: SINSULL Buy a trunk and ship some things ahead. Then, pack a carry on bag with medications, a change or two of clothes or at least underwear, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, and such essentials so that when your luggage is lost you have a survival kit. Pack cash in a variety of places for the same reason. If you will crave something like chocolte or peanut butter, take some along. Address book with emails and snail mail addresses. A phone card. |

10 May 03 - 11:05 PM (#950307) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: Naemanson I ALWAYS have my birthday suit on, Barry. As far as the other things go, it is a trial to think of what I want now and what I can have come along later. I doubt I'll need a parachute. Charlie, you can write your song. Just don't plan on writing that song about me. My real problem is how to get my 3 guitars safely to Guam. |

07 Jun 03 - 07:57 AM (#963648) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: Naemanson How soon am I leaving? Well, all my worldly possessions are curently in packing crates on their way to Guam and everything elase I own is in a couple of suitcases in the other room. I am at my sister's house and will soon be leaving to deliver my truck to New Jersey to ship it over to Guam too. I'd love to come visit, Spaw. I'd love to make a Great Circuit and visit all of you. However it looks as though I'll be visiting the Aussie Mudcats first. Australia is only a short (5 hour) flight from Guam. Anyway, I am off on my great adventure. Don't know when I can sign in again. Wish me luck. |

Attending were Brett, Fred Gosbee and Julia Lane, Norris Dale, Bobbi Keppel, Pat Gardiner, Carter Ruff and his wife Anita, and myself and my wife Judy. Lots of fine food and good songs. Any everything did get packed up. I thought the movers were going to be reduced to tears when they saw the boxes and boxes of books in Brett's basement storage locker. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

09 Jun 03 - 08:02 AM (#964459) Subject: RE: BS: What should Brett (Naes) take to Guam? From: Naemanson Hi Guys, I'm in Connecticut. This afternoon I give up my truck to the shipping company and tomorrow morning I fly out of Newark. The movers were funny. As we were closing up the moving van and I was signing the inventory the supervisor turned to me and said, "If I never see another book as long as I live it will be too soon." Good thing I cleaned out a lot of stuff last year! Who is BillyTheBus? I don't think I've seen him/her here before. I'll write more from somehere else. Enjoy, Brett |

Take good care of him!! ttfn, kat |
