13 May 03 - 02:01 AM (#951548) Subject: RE: Frank Winter seriously ill -update- has passed on From: GUEST,Kiwi Guest ( Murray) Julie and I were hoping it wouldn't happen, everyone feels so powerless at a time like this. Yes Frank sang shanties, but he also had a huge repetoir of quite varied songs. In the early days it was invariably "Three score and Ten", It was his singing that inspired me to learn "From the Buller to the Grey". And we all remember his rendition of the priest and the Choir boy He was always a very suportive, very gentle person who posessed a beautiful deep rich voice. Folkies all over New Zealand are going to miss him greatly. He was such an identity and great human being. Farewell Frank, and our thoughts are with you Sheila. |

Whether or not Frank was one of them, I don't know, but it is always sad to hear of the passing of a well-regarded singer, and I extend my condolences to his family and friends. Alan |
