15 May 03 - 04:30 PM (#953315) Subject: Space at Pinewoods Folk Music Week 2003 From: Desert Dancer The Country Dance and Song Society's Folk Music Week at the beautiful Pinewoods Camp, near Plymouth, Massachusetts, still has some space left, and some work scholarships available. It runs July 19-26, 2003. This is a wonderful camp; I'm hoping to get there this summer (still working on the logistics of travel and child care). Full info is at the link above, but here are the basics: "Folk Music Week 2003 features a wide variety of songs and singing styles from England, Australia and the U.S., dances, storytelling, women's songs and song writing all grounded in traditional music. Everyone is welcome to take a place in the community where the love of traditional song and dance unites Pinewoods newcomers and old-timers. There is an emphasis this year on traditions of England." The staff selected by program director Dick Swain are Jennifer Armstrong (American storyteller and singer), Anni Fentiman (English singer), Vic Gammon (English singer), Becky Hill (American dance caller), Allen Hopkins (American multi-instrumentalist & singer), Seth Houston (American choral director, composer and dance musician), Mary Lea (American dance fiddler), Anna Patton (American dance musician (also plays Balkan)), Peter Siegel (American dance musician), Danny Spooner (Australian singer), Bob Walser (American singer), George Ward (American singer and dance musician), Dave Webber (English singer), Julie Young (American singer, musician and percussive dancer) In addition to the staff, there is always amazing talent among the campers.
