I have enjoyed and admired the work of Studs Terkel, interviewer supreme, and a lover of folk music to boot, for many years. I see from my newspaper that it is his 91st birthday today. Happy birthday Studs, and thanks for everthing. Burl

I think several of us on Mudcat have been on Terkel's Radio show, Art, myself, Sandy, Frank...anyone else?

He's a great man.

I had the pleasure to be on the Stud Turtle Show when I was touring with Utah Phillips in '86. I was a bit in awe of him, what a great personality! Happy B'day Studs.

Terkel fans, take a look at, and listen to, www.studsterkel.org This includes a brilliant interview from 'Division Street' with Kid Pharoah, small time crook and a man with a distinctive take on the English language. 'Working' is my favourite Terkel book, while 'The Great Divide, Second Thoughts on the American Dream' ' is the most salutary. Studs' autobiography 'Talking to Myself' is well worth a look. Studs is an American treasure. Long may he reign. Burl.
