BS: Kitchen towel exchange

My daughter says this is not a "chain letter type" thing, but I think it is. Anyway, I'm participating because I personally know the person I'm sending a towel to, and I told my daughter I wouldn't break the chain.

Here's the deal: you mail one kitchen towel to one person...but you send a copy of the letter to six people. If anyone is interested, send me a PM.

Oops, make that "dishtowels." Thought I could skip preview and correction on a one-sentence post, but of course I was wrong.

Shhhhhhhhh!

Poppa, there are actually people who collect these, or so I hear, they must be people who cook.

My granny loves these. She sent it to me, once, so I bought her a cute towel but didn't pass it on ;)

PG, you don't bake, do you? Need lotsa towels for that...

In theory you get 6 towels, depending on the details of the particulr chain. But I have a LOT of cloth dishtowels and napkins -- mostly homemade from fabric remnants -- I use them in lieu of paper products. Why spend gobs of money to throw away paper when the real stuff works better and is reusable for years?

I have a wonderful batch of towels in my kitchen. Most are cotton, some are very old linen. Lots of different purchases or inheritances, so there are few that match. I use dish towels and wash cloths all of the time, rarely using paper towels. It takes probably a minimum of two months to go through a roll of paper towels because they're only used for things like mopping up grease or really messy stuff.

Nicole: "Why spend gobs of money to throw away paper when the real stuff works better and is reusable for years? "
Because towels spread bacteria. Paper towels are used once and disposed of.

Nigel,

I'd be willing to bet that Nicole runs her dish towels through the washer once and a while! I certainly wash mine frequently (that's why they're mostly very soft and absorbent, because they're washed often).

SRS: yes, and I wash mine (or my wife does, depends who's going into work at what time). But I was answering the question of why should some people prefer paper towels.

Still no takers, I just can't understand why. ;-) (even though I personally hate these things too!)

Read about vintage tea towel quilts here.
