New Website - British Library

The British Library has at last put up a site accessible to all and sundry; at first sight there doesn't appear to be many songs on it, but I can't claim to have searched thoroughly. There are, however, lots of non-music things which would appear to be worth a look.

A bit cumbersome to navigate through or search - but I suspect that will be corrected.

Thanks for the link, Don! Looks like this will be a great site as more becomes available.

It's a pity there isn't -so far as I can tell- a "browse" option, but everything has to start somewhere. The Traditional Music Project at the British Library site is at  http://www.bl.uk/collections/sound-archive/traditional_music.html; this, too, is rather limited at the moment but may grow if funding allows.

The main BL site is at  http://www.bl.uk/. Catalogues can now be searched online, but the kind of funding that the Library of Congress gets is only a dream for us in the UK, so don't expect to see a great deal freely available online in the near future. People who want copies of things will still have to pay for them for quite some time yet.
