Parody: I want a girl

Folklore because we sang it in Boy Scouts. Could be lyrics add. You decide, Joes. (I haven't seen it anywhere before.)

I WANT A BEER

I want a beer just like the beer that pickled dear old dad
It was a beer and the only beer that daddy ever had
A good olf-fashioned beer with lots of foam
Took twenty men to carry daddy home!
Oh I want a beer
Just like the beer
That pickled dear old dad.^^^

Popular at Cardiff Students Union ca 1970-74, it was the last song in a "sequence" of Moonlight Bay/The Bells are Ringing/Aby My Boy/I Want a Beer, followed by

Roll over, Mabel,
Let's have it on the other side
Just Like the dogs do,
Let's have it on the other side
It's better in Blackpool
Let's have it on the other side
A 69-er
Let's have it on the other side
etc, etc
Let's have it on the other side
Good evening, Friends.

I suppose Welsh beer was weaker, because we only needed SIX men to carry Daddy home.

WassaiL! V

I first learned it abour 1957 or 1958, when I was 12 or 13 years old. It came from two brothers who had moved (briefly) to Illinois from Kansas or somewhere.

Hey, that's not the only parody!
Does anyone remember all the words
to the one that begins:

I want a war just like the war that made my daddy rich!^^^

Yes, yes, I should have looked first! Dick Greenhaus posted it! This parody, and many, many more, are posted on THIS THREAD, including the unique, the inimitable, I want a ghoul, just like the ghoul, that buried dear old dad.

No end to the wonders of MUDCAT!
