In June, Coope Boyes & Simpson's Tenth Birthday celebrations take in words and music performances, club and festival dates - and there's a rare chance to see Blue Murder live. Details are -

8 June – In Flanders Fields, St Margaret's Parish Church, Ditchling, Sussex – 6.30 pm - Tickets & Info: 01273 844744 www.ditchling-museum.com
Coope Boyes & Simpson's words and music performance forms part of a season on the poet and writer, David Jones who lived Ditchling and whose work was greatly influenced by his experiences in the First War.

14 June – Attic Folk Club, Chesterfield – Tickets & Info: 01246 277 591

22 June – Folk in the Park, Northampton Music & Arts Festival – Free Sunday afternoon concert

29 June – Blue Murder, Crawley Folk Festival, The Hawth, Crawley www.hawth.co.uk/folk

When are they coming to the US?

It's very nice to be asked, but until the current US government reduces all the uncertainty around times that visas might be granted, it's not fair to organisers to even attempt to plan a tour. Several musicians we know who have regularly worked in the States have had to cancel tours at the last minute because their visas still hadn't arrived months after they'd applied. Does anyone know if things have improved recently?

Unfortunately, the web page doesn't seem to be very . . . er . . . "pro-active".

I've only heard one or two bits of tracks on t' radio, and a short set at Sidmouth Festival.

Do the chaps follow other groups and put small samples of their work up on the web anywhere? Just to give a taste of what their albums might be like?

Gray D

P.S. Couldn't see a date in South Wales on your tour schedule. Did you forget us?

As we really are a musicians' co-operative, the fact that we're currently recording a first CD with the acappella six-piece of Coope Boyes & Simpson, Fi Fraser, Jo Freya and me, working on an album with Bob Davenport for Topic and getting material together for the next Coope Boyes & Simpson CD - as well as and gigging in various formats - means that sound on the website will be done when we have a bit of time available.
As for the Tenth Birthday tour - South Wales would be great if someone asks us.

I can't seem to manage to find the website - it used to be www.coopeboyesandsimpson.co.uk but that just shows a directory listing now. Or have I done something wrong? And you might wish to know the link from the BBC artist database isn't working any more either.

Thanks to everyone who has sent us messages about the problems with our website over the past weeks. For very obvious reasons, we've decided to move servers from Deletions R Us to the sound and reliable Gary and Larry. When the whole transfer is completed - in around a couple of days - we should be back to normal. In the meantime, No Masters catalogue artist information can be accessed via www.nomasters.co.uk.

Thanks to Gary and Larry, the Coope Boyes & Simpson website is now up and running on www.coopeboyesandsimpson.co.uk, No Masters website is still running on www.nomasters.co.uk. Georgina

Well, it seems that I'll just have to come over there to hear the group!
I'd love to hear the six-voice group!

Georgina,

Set yourself up as a Mudcat member (rather than a Guest) and I'll send you a PM with a possible contact. Got to be worth a call.

The website still wasn't working today, but here's hoping it's on its way to being fixed.

For any of you in the U.K. who haven't heard Coope,Boyes & Simpson and have the chance, do it! For those of us in the U.S. who have to wait for their next American tour, let's just hope that some level-headedness returns to the immigration bureaucracy (now part of our new Department of Homeland Security--that ought to tell everyone all they need to know about the red tape. Keeping the U.S. safe from foreign folksingers.) The most recent artist scheduled to come to Washington, DC, was Archie Fisher, who applied (as Georgina noted) many months in advance of his tour and who never received the work visa in time. It is all very annoying.

Happy 10th Birthday, guys.
Kathy

I found the website is working today, and there is a contact at the bottom for Gray D to send his email. The six-piece group is sublime.
