31 May 03 - 01:36 AM (#962386) Subject: Outgrown that 1/2 size fiddle? Call me! From: Mark Cohen I just went to my 8-year-old daughter's Suzuki violin recital. She was wonderful, of course. She even played a little tune she had written! (So the list of composers on the program included Suzuki, Mozart, Haydn, Bach...and Cohen!) She's been playing a 1/4 size violin, and her teacher says she's just about big enough to move up to a 1/2 size. I would like to buy one for her, but it just occurred to me that somebody out in Mudcatland might have a decent 1/2 size violin and bow that their kid has outgrown and is just sitting on the shelf in the closet, wondering, "Isn't anybody ever going to play me again?" Maybe we can work something out? Aloha, Mark |

From: katlaughing I know the Suzuki method takes things a bit differently, my son was in it, but I started out in school on violin when I was eight and used my sister's full-size from the get-go. I am surprised they haven't already had her on half-size. Anyway, we used to have one, but sold it several years ago. Sorry. Good luck, that's neat about her writing her own tune, too! kat |

From: Liz the Squeak Sorry, Bratling's one is at the restorers, and although it would be the perfect swap (she's still a little unco-ordinated to cope with the 1/2), the postage to Hawaii would be incredible.... unless you want to send me the air tickets and I bring it out personally?.... Ah well, worth a try. LTS |
