Suspect this is a gospel zipper song and you could add just about any that match the meter -- like ones about Moses and the children dressed in red. the "let your..." line is the second and fourth line each time. |

I thought you might like to see what I came up with. I posted it here to check my links, but then I decided I might as well leave it up. -Joe Offer- Hi, Vic - I'll bet the photo you're talking about is the one by Jean Guichard of the La Jument light, taken in December, 1989. It's off the coast of Brittany. A look at a map of France will show you how treacherous the Brittany coast can be. It sticks way out there into the ocean, with nothing to protect it. If you click here, you'll get another interesting photo, but you have to wait a moment for the entire thing to load so you get the full effect. I think it's my favorite lighthouse song, although I really like "Ready for the Storm." I've heard it called "The Lighthouse" or "Light from the Lighthouse." I've had difficulty learning the tune - can anybody post it for me? I also wonder if it's really traditional, or if there's a songwriter's name available somewhere. I have the song on the new CD by Bob Zentz, but he strays a bit far from the tune I've heard before. The only versions I'd heard often were the one by Bob Zentz (good, but not traditional), and the one by the Seekers (good, but I can't sing like Judith Durham). Your rendition made it easier to figure out, although I'd still like to see somebody post the tune so it can be added to the database. To convert back, I pasted the ABC above into a Word page, saved as text only, then opened that file in abc2nwc to convert back to NWC.
