10 Aug 98 - 01:20 PM (#34600) Subject: Max, about the tunes... From: Barbara Sometime in the last week or so, instead of getting a tune when I CLICK HERE TO PLAY, I get a file that is added to my temporary file, and I have not yet found how to make it play. It shows up as a 1KB app file. Before, when I CLICKED HERE, Java installed and played the tune for me. So the question is, did you change something, or have I? And in either case, how do I get back to playing tunes? That is to say, HELP! Blessings, Barbara |

My guess is that you somehow changed the security settings or other options on your Internet browser, Barbara. Poke around on your menus and see if you can find something up there. Also, you may want to check the Cyber Hymnal and see if you can get their MIDI tunes to play. Also, I wonder if you need to reinstall whatever program plays MIDI files for you. If you double-click on a MIDI file that's on your hard drive, does it play? It's one of those things I could fix in a minute if I could look at it, but I can't see your computer from here - but I can tell you for certain that the MIDI tunes in the database are functioning normally and that the problem is ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!. Good luck, Barbara. -Joe Offer- |

12 Aug 98 - 04:57 PM (#34637) Subject: RE: Max, about the tunes... From: Max The new netscape media player is run by java. I have not heard any mudcat problems like this, and I have the new netscape and it works fine for me. Also, since there are so many midi files, chances are they ALL don't work right. Always let me know what files you have problems with. Good luck. |

12 Aug 98 - 05:03 PM (#34639) Subject: RE: Max, about the tunes... From: Max Oh, you know, I kind of take it back (and maybe you should too joe). I did find a misconfiguration (not sure why) on how our server handles midi files. I changed it and it works better for me now, how about you? |

12 Aug 98 - 05:43 PM (#34651) Subject: RE: Max, about the tunes... From: Joe Offer Oh, so it WAS a general problem, huh? I guess Barbara messed it up for all of us. Is that why the 'Cat was down for two days? Just like I said, it was all Barbara's fault! Good thing we're all back, though. -Joe Offer- |

You seem to have removed that part of the "Support the Mudcat" page. Thanks. Blessings, Barbara And, Joe, have you ever noticed how, when people start throwing accusations around, the first thing they say is what they feel guilty about themselves? |

So Joe, how come you have been making it rain torrentially and causing floods in our area lately? You sure have a lot of explaining to do I reckon. ;-> And now I think about it, what about that devasating tsunami/tidal wave up in Papua New Guinea? Helen, in Oz |

Let's follow Max's lead and blame it all on The Phone Company. Life is so much easier if we can find someone blame for it all - who better to blame than The Phone Company? -Joe Offer- |
