BS: 'Tilting at Windmills'

I am hoping somebody who has read Don Quixote more recently than I have may be able to help.

When Don Quixote tilted at windmills, did he think they were knights, or did he think they were some kind of monster ?

It is many years since I read the novel ....

He thought they were giants. Here are some pictures of the type of windmills he'd have been taking on. Gutsy bloke.

And like you Murray, he was in dire need of electro-shock treatments..........What on earth were you talking about for this particular subject to come up???

Well, Spaw, if you really want to know why I asked, click Here

Thanks for the kind advice about electro-shock treatment btw. I know it worked for you, but our voltage is much stronger over here, and it might have adverse side-effects.

Well Sorch, he says his link is okay but it's gone down. I think this is a problem Murray has had before but perhaps now the Viagra ain't working and he's going to have to have hydraulics installed.......

Sorry I missed that little spot of badinage, (had to go to bed).

Married life in Scotland is just fine Sorch, thank you, (no call for replacement hydraulics yet thank God ) but I really miss living in the US, and I have a feeling we may yet be moving back there one day. The call of the Cuban coffee is just too strong ....

Well, MacLeod - with a name like that you should know that tilting at windmills, that appear to be giants, tends to hurt you more than the windmills. Having said that, a great enough cheer and a solid charge, one of these times they may just break and run.

Or, put more simply, if the task is worth doing, don't count the odds, just do it. Yes, the book was a long slam on society at the time, and could be retold as a slam on today's as well. Don't let that bother you...

hold fast -

Pete
