It should be really really good, seeing who the singers are (women who sing sea shanties, sea songs etc...all excellent singers)....Be sure and get it...can't go wrong (OK I do know them but I am totally unbiased). mg |

22 Jun 03 - 01:17 AM (#970446) Subject: RE: Review: New Broadside C.D. From: GUEST From the only reference I could find: Broadside is Mary Benson, Chris Roe, and Carol Mesford. They sing mostly chanteys, but no song that mentions water is really beyond their domain. Accompanied by melodeon and congas, their rich harmonies and joyous energy really shine! Broadside will lead a workshop on songs and stories of women of the sea [at the Tumbleweed Music Festival 2002]. Inquiring minds would like to know more. |

22 Jun 03 - 03:11 PM (#970489) Subject: RE: Review: New Broadside C.D. From: GUEST,Chris Roe We gotta get a website soon! Broadside is actually Mary Benson, Carol Mesford, Andrea Aldridge, Chris Roe and Trapper Graves. We come from Seattle WA, Mountlake Terrace WA, Tacoma WA and Portland, OR. We will be at the Tumbleweed Festival in Richland, Washington (website = //www.3rfs.org/tmf.htm) again this year, as well as the Wooden Boats Festival in Port Townsend, Washington. Like that flattering promo bit says, we do maybe half chanties, and half other maritime songs, and invite audience participation. |
