Where is the Celtic music in Maryland?

Hello;
    I will be living in the Finksburg area for the next 6 months and
would really love to know where I can go, within reason, to hear good Celtic music. Does Baltimore have anything? I am a listener, not a performer. A friend told me to try the Mudcat as you seem to know every thing that is going on in the music business.

Thanks for any suggestions.
June

I don't know about Celtic musci, but drive down to St. Mary's City. It's BEAUTIFUL down there. There's a bird sanctuary, and you'll see all kinds of wonderful birds. There's a historical park, and a lot of gorgeous scenery. So, Go!
Note; to everyone who reads this, tell all developers that St. Mary's is a malarial swamp. The alternative is unthinkable

Seamus Kennedy's in Annapolis. I don't know if he consider's what he does to be "Celtic" or not though.

The Scottish Rite thingie in Frederic used to have a "Celtic Club" in it, and they have Ceilidh(s) (how is the plural of that spelled?) and things like that, or they used to anyway.

Walt Michael's American Music and Arts Festival will be held in July in Westminster, MD. It should include Celtic music along with a broad assortment for all musical tastes.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Arkie, I will try to research that on the net for more information as to time and directions.
Murph, that sounds great! I will be happy to extend your fond hello to Pat when I get there.

'June' was timely indeed, it is my birth month. Mom took the easy way, looked at the calendar and that was the outcome.
Thanks again, you are a lovely group of people.

Just in case you like bagpipipes? One of the Best Pipe bands in the U.S. is the Grade I City of Washington Pipe Band. They meet in Kensington Md. in the winter, and at the University of Maryland in fair weather. They won the Worlds in Grade 2 a couple years ago. They perform with Bonnie Rideout - 6 Time U.S.Scottish Fiddling champion. You can catch them at the Celtic games in Fair Hill, Maryland, Leesburg,VA, Alexandria, VA (July 26, '03). They perform next Saturday 2:00(5th of July)at the Folk Festival at the Smithsonian in DC. As for Sea Chantey-folk- the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race begins with a Sailor's Evening at the foot of Broadway on an infamous "Tugantine" in Fells Point Baltimore Md. on October 15. - Heely

Thanks Heely, I hadn't checked back and I really appreciate your
information. I do love the pipes and I am going to search the net to see if they have a web page with more info.
I am so excited about looking for all of these performers I have been given information on. It's great to have a place like the Mudcat Cafe to bring music problems of any type to and know you'll get great help.
Thanks again to all who wrote, and thank you Heely.
