Leigh (Essex UK) festival

I thought that I'd already seen a thread for this year's Leigh Folk Festival, but couldn't find it.

Linda and I should be able to make it on Saturday evening. Kevin McGrath usually goes, but are any other 'catters likely to be around ? The Waterson/Carthy concert looks interesting, but I expect that we'll be looking for a session. The one in "The Crooked Billet" is billed as a musicician's session, anyone know if we'll be able to get the odd song in ? If not, does anyone know of any other pubs where we could sing ?

Check out the Ship - where they had the world record singaround last year. That's where the folk club meets so they might have more info.

Regretably, we are busy this year so won't be going.

err, silly question but if you want to know something specific about an event why not contact the organisers? That nice Mr Google has got the address of their web site.

The Peterboat will likely have a singing session on Saturday. Or possibly one of the others. But all the pubs in Old Leigh are within a few yards. March towards the sound of gunfire, as they say.

I hope to be there at some point. I had a programme somewhere but cannot locate it at present.

The Folk Club has moved from the Ship.

Will post again when more coherent! I fancy the Allan Taylor gig, myself.

I don't need to use google to find the website - I gave a link to it in my first posting. As I pointed out, the official session on the programme appears to be for musicians rather than singers. Most of the sessions that Linda and I go to at festivals tend to be unofficial ones and I was trying to find if there was any consensus as to where there would be a singers (or mixed) session.

Looking at the program, the only singaround listed is tonight (Friday 27th) at the Peterboat, but that means missing Allan Taylor!

Apart from a "music session" at the Crooked Billet on Saturday at 8pm, and an Irish session in the Smack on Sunday, there are no sessions listed.

Seems to be the square root of bugger all for singers this year!

Shurely Shome Mishtake!

But the programme tends to mean bugger all when it comes to that kind of thing. Things can happen that aren't on it, and maybe things taht are on it don't happen.
