30 Jun 03 - 11:00 AM (#974632) Subject: Tech: converting .wav to MP3 From: GUEST,Mike Benson Hello Mudcatters, I'm creating a little site for myself and I've got a few song demos of myself that I've recorded on my casette deck, converted to .wav files and cleaned up using an early shareware copy of Cool Edit. DOes anyone know what I have to do to convert them to MP3 and how to post them on my site? Thanks for any help you can provide. Mike |

Dbpoweramp is freeware and easy to use. Right click on the file or files you wish to convert and select MP3 from the dropdown menu. You can save to same file, create a file or save to any other file of your choosing. It is a good idea to take note of where the converted file is deposited. The software is available at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ |

30 Jun 03 - 06:26 PM (#974699) Subject: RE: Tech: converting .wav to MP3 From: Clinton Hammond If you have the *.wav file open in CoolEdit, it's as easy as selecting "Save As" and renaming the file to an MP3, selecting an encoder, and saving it.. Bang... instant MP3... Posting them on your site? Well, that's just a matter of uploading them to yer server space, same as you did with the other files that make up you web site... |

I always use 320kbps (??) for music I listen to in my car and it sounds pretty good - at least a Faces Radio One In Concert from 1970 did this morning!!! |
05 Jan 12 - 08:11 PM (#3285519) Subject: RE: Tech: converting .wav to MP3 From: Tootler Audacity will do the job for you. It will export to a variety of formats including mp3 of various bitrates. |
05 Jan 12 - 08:30 PM (#3285533) Subject: RE: Tech: converting .wav to MP3 From: ChrisJBrady One thing - make sure that the resultant MP3 has a decent Kbps. Anything lower than 128Kbps will sound 'muddy'. I have found that 192kbps is just OK, with files of reasonable size. Anything at a higher rate will result in very large files. BTW I use Audacity too, with Lame MP3 encoder. |
05 Jan 12 - 11:48 PM (#3285608) Subject: RE: Tech: converting .wav to MP3 From: JohnB In Audacity you will probably have to install a copy of "Lame", it tells you how to do it the first time you try, after that it is automatic. JohnB |
