Hi Fiddle,
Bruno is a company that shared some of it's works with the Martin name before Martin established it's own factory. I have found many nice old guitars bearing the Bruno name.
In later years the Bruno name was one of the first at importing their instruments from the orient.
If your banjo has any embossings indicating " Bruno, New York", you indeed have a fine instrument, but it might be an import.
Takamine made a limited edition parlor guitars bearing the Bruno name which is a commemortive instrument and sought out by many because of it's size and limited availability. That was an 80's era event and I haven't heard anything else about the Bruno.
E-bay has offered several items such as mando banjos, banjo-ukes etc.

There were a few "Bruno" makers in the USA
Charles Bruno NY 1830 till recently
Bruno & Cargill NY 1850 till 1853
Bruno & Morris NY 1860 till 1863
Bruno Weissenborn & Co NY 1854 till 1857
There was also a Bruno in New York in 1885 but most of the banjos baring his name were made by JH Buckbee between who traded between 1860 and 1897
Cheers Bill

Hi... Can anyone help me to know what my Bruno is and what it might be worth? I have a Bruno 8 string banjolin. Or at least I think that is what it was called. It has a white floral engraving on the neck. Don't know much about instruments at all. Also have the original case. I hope you all can help me at least find websites with info.
Thanks for your time!!!
Joan
