I saw him perform at our university about 9 years back and he really rocked the place. too many good people leaving us! |

I played clarinet when I was younger -- but really developed a taste for jazz flute from listening to Herbie Mann. I've got stacks of his vinyl. Never saw him in person, but heard him on TV back in the days I watched the box. Another great gone. Linn |

Not so easy on flute as with other woodwinds where mouthpieces and reeds enter the equation. Herbie Mann brought jazz from around the world and played it with his own tone and style.....and made it his......and made it great. Always loved him.......... Spaw |

If anyone could have produced a klez/jazz flute sound, it would have been him. |
