Ian F. Benzie - What's he up to?

What is Scottish singer Ian F. Benzie up to these days? He used to be the lead singer for Old Blind Dogs and then went solo and released two great CD's "I'se the Bye" and "So Far". Has anybody seen him in concert recently? Hopefully he's working on a new album because I love everything he's done.

All I know is he's been on a recent Burns compilation.

Cheers,

No website comes up on a google search, just some sites that carry his albums, which were put out on the Lochshore label.

Yes `tis true I am now living in Kernow ( Cornwall for the uninitiated ) And working through song after song for another album.
It`s been a great break since The Fruit Market, Glasgow Celtic Conns 1999 and I feel at last I`m back to where I should be in musical terms.
Thanx to all for asking about me. Hopefully see you all in the forthcoming year.

Ian F Benzie

Ian,

I am eagerly awaiting your next recording. I hope it will be available in the states. Giving any thought to a tour in the states?

Hello, Ian,
Great to hear news from you and to know you are working on another album. I have both your solo CD's and am also eagerly awaiting the next. All the tracks are absolutely superb, and as an American I have to congratulate you for your versions of two American songs - Silver Dagger and Willie Moore - the best I've ever heard, bar none! We'd love it if you'd tour in the US. It's hard to find your albums here - I chanced upon them at Milwaukee Irish Fest last year and snapped them up. Do you have a website where we can keep up with your live appearances?

Any forthcoming albums will be on the KRL label as I still have a contract with them. I hasten to add that it might be a slow process.
I`ve spent the last 2 years recording via Cubase on the PC, using it as a sketch pad for future albums so I`ve had to learn up all that is necessary about home recording. I would hope to have another album out within the year. As to touring the States I would dearly love to and that might happen in the future, but no plans at present. Believe it or not, in this cyber day & age, I don`t have a website but I suppose putting one up wouldn`t be that great a hassle. I`m currently awaiting installation of satellite broadband ( I live in the sticks ) so that it makes a website more viable.......we`ll see

Hope you gonna make a tour in all Europa. I leave in Sweden now but I heard you several times and met you in my former town Lyon in France while you were playing and singing with OBD's,You have been one of the greatest inspirations for me. I have your solo CD's and some of the Robert Burns CDs. But I miss your singing and presence on stage. Some concert in Sweden? I can try to fix it if you want.
Friendly

I'd love to hear that voice again! For me the OBD were best when he was their singer. Say hello from me, please, though I doubt he'll remember me (Germany, Inselnacht Seevetal, strange woman insisting on an interview when all they wanted was to go back to the hotel).

Well. We dream to have him singing around. I wish I was living next door to him, so I would listen like a rober. And I agree with the girl from Germany: In that way that the Old Blind Dogs are not the Old Blind Dogs without him. They are a very good band. But They are not the Old Blind Dogs.

What ever happened to the Lemon tarts ?
I have listened to songs from the old and new "old blind dogs" and they are not the same without that Scottish bloke Ian F Benzie. Where did he go ?

Just thought I'd refresh this thread - Today I listened to Old Blind Dog's "Legacy" album and again thought what a wonderful singer Ian is. Hope he is doing well, wherever he may be.

Helas is the real Ian F. Benzie not either att http://www.myspace.com/ianfbenziefanclub. There's just an other poor guy like you who made the myspace page, who'd like to hear of him and don't know more than you. Otherwise the page should be called Ian F.Benzie. Wander why Ian's choice is to remain so mysterious? If not his choice, the choice of the people who take care of him.

I just found your name! I was so excited, your voice is so unique I can't wait to find your CD's. They are obsolete now and quite expensive which may bring some jolly time in a pint or two. And I saw the look on the fiddlemans face as I watched a young video of yous playing in a tiny tavern somewhere. He looked to be the leader, but really Ian, you made the music come alive with the stories and your wonderful voice. I don't think I will ever hear another one like it. Unless of course you have kin!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
