It's a jolly song for the singing and it is ingrained in the memories of a vast number of UK people, but Folk song ? Nah... you might just as well call "Can't buy me love" a folk song. |

No problems with crossover, I hope? And don't forget, even traditional songs were written ("created" if yo prefer) by someone originally; not by pros, of course. Most of them are "based on the characters created by ACD", but with invented stories not based on the originals. They fall into that genre of "so bad they're good"; very entertaining, but only of value as curiosities to the true Baker St buff. Does that sound a bit arrogant? Good! Steve |
