Advice needed - playing the bouzouki

Can anyone give me some tips to get going on the bazouki (or is it bouzouki ?). I bought a new one recently (festival, beer tent, rush of blood etc) and need a few basics to get going - commom tunings, a few easy chords, etc. I've tried to find a 'Teach yourself to play Bazouki' type book but they seem rare and I cant find a website with the type of information I need. I'm used to finding my way round guitar open tunings so hopefully will be able to self teach once I get pointed in the right direction. I'm looking to learn the instrument specifically for song accompaniment so any advice around that would be especially welcome from any 'old hands'.

Cheers

CK

I suggest you try "The Irish Bouzouki" by Niall Ó Callanán and Tommy Walsh - it's got a Cassette/CD that goes with it. Published by Waltons - you could get it via Hobgoblin, for example. The site can give you a price.

It's basic in a comprehensive way, and comprehensive in a basic way.

AAHH The Greek eight string anti tank Guitar. Every one i know who Bazooks seems to have a different tuning ranging from weird open tunings through DADA to straight four string guitar . Good luck and have fun.

ADAD or GDAD would be more normal tunings (that's with the A or the G as the bass string).
