18 Jul 14 - 04:20 AM (#3643055) Subject: RE: 2 Cambridge tickets plus camping From: Mr Red I checked the Cambridge website. Not a lot of folk music! my conclusion long since, and Shrewsbury are aiming at Cambridge Territory (official - from the organiser). The bigger you get the smaller the residual market. So they go after other markets hoping the faithful will hang on. That's what happens when it is run by business men (and menesses). Glastonbury called themselves a Folk Festival once. Towersey seems to buck the trend (mostly) but then Steve Heap's pedigree is as a Morris dancer who became a business man. I know the route for other organisers is far more cynical and the Folk pedigree rather thin and mendacious. |
18 Jul 14 - 04:39 AM (#3643061) Subject: RE: 2 Cambridge tickets plus camping From: Leadfingers I 'did' Cambridge twice , '69 and '71 , and decided it was too big for comfort even then , when Camping etc was all on one site . At least Towersey does have 'Folk' heasdliners , though even there its 'Too Big' in my opinion . |
18 Jul 14 - 03:48 PM (#3643218) Subject: RE: 2 Cambridge tickets plus camping From: Mr Red And lots of dancing, And lots of Yoof. But then it is our job to decry the Yoof of today so they can confirm their belief they are different and discovering things wot we never knew. AH! Plus ça change. They will turn into us in 30 years time. Shudder (:-) |
