I am going to be in Exeter on Thursday and Friday next week (31/7 and 1/8) and would be much obliged if anyone can let me know if there are likely to be any sessions on. Thanks.

Sidmouth folk festival starts that weekend, Sidmouth is twelve miles from Exeter. The Middle bar singers in the anchor are about from thursday but the whole town has sessions from friday onwards, english at the Radway, mixed and irish most other places. if you are about you should come and have a look. And there are buses to Sidmouth from Exeter (and back)!

See the thread on the Sidmouth festival.

There is a very good bus service. It is run by Stagecoach and their number is 01392 427711.

Tony Day has e-mailed the Middle Bar singers to say that he has been unable to get from Exmouth to Sidmouth for a recce today because the buses are on strike!

Some info on buses here: http://www.carlberry.co.uk/rfnshowo.asp?O=SDEVON (52 goes Exeter to Sidmouth) but think you'll have to phone to get strike info.

Strikes have been happening for 2 non-consecutive days a week for the past 3 weeks, so you should be able to make it one day! I believe the
management has organised a limited service during the strikes, so you may be able to go then if you want. (FYI believe strike is about drivers being expected to work 45 hour weeks amongst other things).

As for more general sessions in Exeter, I only ever seem to come across
singy things. There's a fledgling music session that's been happening on the last Friday of the month (caught the end of it yesterday), does anyone know of anything else?
