Just wanted to let all my friends know! She is only 18 and they plan to wait a couple years, but it's now Official! The BF is going to be my Son in Law! A baby from the Son and an engagement for the Daughter! (Maybe we'll get to live alone before we die.......)

Geez, aren't you starting to feel really, really old? Granny Sorcha, a-shellin' peas on the back stoop....

Well engagements OK; but it can lead to MARRIAGE! An old friend of mine said that being a Grandad was great, but he didn't like the idea of being married to a Grandmother. So as long as they know what it can lead to, I wish them good luck.

Congrats to Dottir Sorcha!

Of course, it could just mean that you will have a S-in-L moving in with you...... best be putting those screens back on the porch, someone's gonna be spending a lot of time out there!

Geeziz Sorch.......Sometimes the abbreviations throw me because I think of them with other words and so it took a minute to figure that "BF" meant Boy Friend.....I was thinking you were happy that the guy was a sodomizer....Glad I was wrong! Uh, I was wrong wasn't I? Wait a minute...Don't answer that....Let me just assume I was wrong.

Congrats to all!!!

Just remember, you don't really have an empty nest until they've moved all their stuff out of your house. *g*

Mario, I think that will be us............got her ring last night--a 3 in one--they kinda hook together. Peridot, blue topaz and amethyst in silver. Real pretty.

long engagements seem to be coming back in style - a friend got married the other day after three years (the DATE was selected over two years ago) and my neice-in-texas got engaged this spring with a tentative marriage date set for July of 2005

Congratulations! I too had a long engagement (6 years, due to college 120 miles from himself, and subsequent lack of money). I wish them both every happiness.

My son moved out 2 years ago to live 230 miles away down in South Wales, and #1 daughter has just moved out a week ago to live with her long-term boyfriend. I was dreading the old empty nest bit, but she has so much stuff that even a week after the move, it looks like she's still living here. She has only moved about 4 miles away, so it's a gradual emptying.

#2 daughter will be off to university in a year's time and then I will really feel the empty nest.

Andrea

... and as soon as they move out, sell the house and get a one-bedroom flat, so they can't move back!
