07 Aug 03 - 01:22 AM (#998343) Subject: RE: New Folk Venue in New York City From: Janice in NJ If I ever get back to NYC I will stop by. I still remember when you could have a full dinner either at the Odessa or at Leshko's down the block for just 85 cents. That was 1967, the Summer of Love, except in Newark or Detroit, or Viet Nam for that matter. The next summer was spent in Resurrection City, until the DC Metro Police forced us all out. But by then the shit was happening all over, and the next couple of years were just a blur. When I finally got back to the East Village, Jimi was dead, Janis was dead, the kids at Kent State were dead, the kids at Jackson State were dead, and the price of a meal had reached a dollar. Any idea what it is now? |
